Descaling and Maintenance
When a counter-flow cooler is used frequently, limescale builds up between the core tube and the jacket tube. Without descaling, the cooling water chamber may eventually become blocked, rendering the cooler unusable. However, even before a blockage occurs, limescale deposits reduce the cooling capacity.Even if the cooler – or, more generally, the heat exchanger – is only used occasionally, descaling should be carried out at least once a year.
With continuous use, weekly descaling may be necessary. Of course, this also depends on the hardness of the cooling water. If, for example, only filtered rainwater is used, limescale build-up is not to be expected.
